Best: Lindsay Lohan has breast implants
OK. So La Lohan became an uncomfortable dish du jour for men feeling funny in the stomach over the teenage "Mean Girls" star. But there was something sweet and smart about her. She wasn't Paris Hilton or Hilary Duff or Tara Reid: She had substance and charm and can actually act. But then she blossomed... and perhaps too much. Implants or growth spurt? The ink spilled and internet space filled concerning Lohan's endowments were (and still are) so, um, big.
Fans and gossip columnists turned into amateur plastic surgery experts, analyzing the structure and movement of her bosom with Howard Hughes-like obsession and detail. So, why is this good? Well, it was, er, educational.

Worst: Nick and Jessica are breaking up
Jessica Simpson and who? Oh yeah, Nick Lachey... her co-star, we mean, husband on that MTV "reality" show "Newlyweds." Since Mary Kate Olsen is now eating salad again, the tabloids needed a new duo to dump on. Frantic questions of divorce, stories alleging Lachey's bachelor party rendezvous and the ascension of Jessica's popularity over a jealous Nick (Lachey's not playing Daisy Duke) made for a flurry of hype that was, in the end, tedious. Who, aside from MTV execs, really cares if they stay together or not? Actually, some hope they don't. It'd save us from more of those dreadful variety TV specials.
