December 31, 2004 (Press Release) --
I am an American Vietnam veteran that lives in a small village in Thailand, in an areas not affected by the Tsunami. I see that the aid agencies and various world governments are doing all they can, but, I propose to do something more for the unfortunate, that will help victims long after the images have disappeared from our television screens, the rescuers have gone home and the children have stopped crying for their Mother and Fathers. For many the ordeal will be over, but, not for the millions that will suffer in poverty for at least a decade to come, for we tend to forget quickly.
I propose to adopt fishermen, farmers, small shopkeepers, soup vendors, Orphanages and others from throughout Asia and help them get back on their feet in the long term, or help them expand their services so that they subsequently will prosper and be able to pass on their good fortune to others, causing many to recover economically. How you ask? I intend to do this by helping them to buy the tools of their trade.
What does it entail you ask, well, a fishing net, pay for the parts to repair a fishing trawler, buy or repair farming equipment such as plows, agricultural pumps, small tractors and other tools that these people will ultimately need to become productive again.
I ask you to join me in this project by making a donation large or small to:
