January 8, 2005 (Press Release) --
Ybor City Telco announced their plans on Thursday January 6th to buy SpivO, a search engine, directory, news center, and classifieds conglomerate. SpivO Search was originally named “O-Find”, which was a project funded by former technology group, Spider Trek Technologies, Inc. The O-Find project was designed to be a tribute to open source software. Spider Trek’s chief executive believed that an entire search engine, news center, and online community could be built entirely on open source software. He was close to being right. The only part of Spivo.com that isn’t built on open source software is the pay-per-click system which allows advertisers to bid for their ranking.
The name “SpivO” came from a proprietary application developed by Spider Trek which allowed people to view cameras with various media devices. After the rights of Spider Trek’s application were relinquished, the O-Find project was renamed SpivO. It was in December of 2004 that SpivO was put up for sale. Tampa based Ybor City Telco reached an agreement with SpivO’s former owner and finalized the deal Friday January 7, 2004.
SpivO certainly isn’t “just another search engine”. It’s Google like simplicity and multi-task search abilities are sure to grab the interest of the frequent web surfer. They offer a little something for everybody. SpivO News receives live news feeds 24/7 plus SpivO manages their own small business news section. SpivO Small Business News openly invites everybody to send a press release that’s business related. Their liberal guidelines assure users a likely publishing of their company news.
SpivO’s independent directory will be launched later this year when it has become substantially full of listings. Interested webmaster’s are encouraged to submit their site into the directory. SpivO’s Classifieds is currently in its Beta / Development stage. Even though it isn’t completely ready for the front page public, users that know to click on “more” will have the secret advantage of posting free classifieds which are scanned by SpivO and other search engines weekly.
Ybor City Telco is not worried about keeping up with a high demand business like SpivO. After all, they’re no stranger to internet media. Currently they own Kazor.com, a global, high traffic, online community newspaper plus growing online auction, KCove.com, and many other internet media ventures. Today in his news conference Christopher Kazor, CEO of American Marketing Management and Motivation Service Inc., Ybor City Telco’s parent said. ”Ybor City Telco has plans of integrating their sites with SpivO. Our World’s Community Newspaper, kazor.com (Starting it's 10th Year) will benefit tremendously as we will soon be able to use the Want ads modules of SpivO to enhance our all ready popular “Unclassified” Want ad section. I am thrilled with the acquisition, together we will improve the value to the SpivO user base as well as the users of our existing sites.
Ybor City Telco will never forget what SpivO is a tribute to…Open Source Software Development. They will continue to donate a percentage of their revenue to various open source software projects around the world.
