January 12, 2005 (Press Release) --
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – January 10, 2005 – Orman Press best selling author of A Fresh Look at the New Testament Deacon, Dr. John H. Walker, releases his third book entitled Pearls in the Pew. In his new book, Dr. Walker presents a fresh look at mining the unlimited potential of every member of the church. He challenges the church to change its focus to real ministry that involves new paradigms where saints can grow and develop in ministry. As an added bonus, he also introduces a Laity Leadership Training program that is based on his powerful Being, Becoming and Doing model for equipping lay leaders in the new millennium.
Dr. Walker believes that “every saint is a potential pearl lying dormant in the shell of an oyster. After the saving grace of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, the church’s next great treasure is the laity. Every pearl has a divine assignment and some have been anointed by God to lead his people. However, they must be polished, that is equipped, enabled and empowered to fulfill God’s purposes”. Some of the topics covered in his book include “The Making of a Pearl”, “Empowerment and Entitlement” and “The Benefit of Equipping”.
Pearls in the Pew is a must-have leadership development tool for pastors and laypersons. This book not only gives a fresh look into servant leaders of today, but also introduces a practical and detailed program on equipping, empowering and releasing ministry members for effective Kingdom ministry.
Pearls in the Pew will be released at a book signing on January 30, 2005, during the kick-off celebration of the third annual Pearls in the Pew Laity and Leadership Conference. This national conference will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC from January 30 – February 3, 2005.
