January 13, 2005 (Press Release) --
Sarasota, Florida - The Wellness Community, a local non-profit cancer care and service organization announced the launch of their new Web site last month. The Web site www.wellness-swfl.org was designed by GravityFree, a Sarasota-based Web site developer, to apply a fresh look and new features to the online presence of the proactive community organization.
The Wellness Community of Southwest Florida is a local affiliate of the National Wellness Community organization dedicated to helping people who are affected by cancer enhance their health and well-being through participation in a professional program of support, education and hope. The centers provide psychological and educational services for cancer patients and their loved ones, including professionally led support groups, educational workshops and mind/body programs- in a home-like environment where people can come together to share, learn and connect with one another.
The new Web site was designed to be an integral part of The Wellness Community’s mission. Boasting a bold new look and easy-to-use navigation, the site offers users a wealth of information about their programs and services, links to other cancer information resources, articles and news, and an events calendar and a program schedule. Volunteer and giving opportunities are easily identified on the site as well for those interested in getting involved. “The site’s content, functionality and design are expected to increase the awareness of the breadth of cancer support offered by The Wellness Community,” comments Ray Villares, co-owner of GravityFree. “We are impressed with the work they do and our involvement in this project has been and continues to be rewarding for us both personally and professionally.”
GravityFree has equipped The Wellness Community staff with the means of managing their own Web site - from updating their events calendar to e-mail campaign capabilities - they will have a sophisticated new marketing tool that allows them to the cater to the community they serve in an timely and cost effective manner. “We really needed to be able to market our work and our mission in a cost-efficient way - The Wellness Community’s services for cancer patients are vast, and 100% free of charge - so we really want everyone to know about us. We’re a small office and our human resources are limited, so the site GravityFree put together needed to help us market and do a lot of other things easily and cost-effectively and it’s already doing just that,” says Jay Lockaby, Executive Director of The Wellness Community of Southwest Florida.
