January 27, 2005 (Press Release) --
Jeff Price, a Grafton, WV resident, recently received the honor of being named November’s winner for 2004 in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel category by VH-1’s Song of the Year. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting the music video channel VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The panel of judges for Song of the Year is comprised of some of the biggest names in the music industry, including many Grammy Award winners.
Song of the Year is very excited to recognize Jeff for his exceptional songwriting ability. Jeff’s winning song entitled “Pray” had to compete with hundreds of other songs from around the world before receiving the honor of being chosen as the best song in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel category. You can hear his song online by going to www.songoftheyear.com and clicking the “Past Winners” button.
“This is great.” Jeff stated. “This was the first time I’ve ever entered a contest like this. And considering that “Pray” has been reviewed by such an impressive panel of judges and has stood against such stiff competition, it is a real honor to have made it this far.”
When asked what inspired him to write “Pray”, Jeff commented, “Glorifying God is the ultimate goal with every Christian song I write and this song in particular was inspired by God’s promise that there is power in prayer.”
Presently, Jeff is concentrating on his music career. His ultimate goal is to become a renowned songwriter. “I can’t think of a better way to glorify God and bring His message to the world than through music,” he says.
Jeff is skilled at playing many instruments, such as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and percussion. He writes his own lyrics, does his own vocals and composes and plays the accompanying music for each song he writes. He also records all his own songs using surprisingly simple and relatively inexpensive equipment. Jeff’s winning song was created in the same manner. We admire Jeff’s talent and wish him luck in all his future music-related endeavors.
