February 7, 2005 (Press Release) --
With all the focus on Philadelphia and New England for the
Super Bowl, it's easy to forget that the rest of the nation
is facing serious financial issues. One region particularly
at a crossroads is the South West. Dallas, Texas, in particular
has questions to answer.
For one, Texas citizens will need to face the issue of whether
or not to allow casinos to operate within their borders. Millions
of dollars are at stake. Dallas residents frequent casinos like,
Harrahs, Isle of Capri, and Hollywood Casino right in
Shreveport, Louisiana.
And, while Shreveport, Louisiana residents are thankful for
the business, http://www.iloveshreveport.com/Shreveport--Louisiana-Casino.php for
example, Texas may make changes soon to rectify that flow of
cash into other states from within the Lonestar State.
Texas is the home of some gigantic corporations (Dell Computer,
for example) and investors are clearly happy with what they've
seen out of most Texas companies over the years but, when will
Texas stop allowing money to flow out from her cities into the
coffers of surrounding states?
The impact will be to more than just Texas cities. If Texas
were to allow casino gambling, that would radically shape the
fortune of many publicly-traded casinos.
There are some initiatives coming up for vote in Texas in the future
that may re-write the economies of many cities across the South West.
