February 11, 2005 (Press Release) --
Montreal, February 10, 2005. HMS Software, a leading provider of project management and enterprise timesheet solutions, announced today the release of TimeControl, version 4.4.1. This minor update to HMS’ popular enterprise timesheet system includes several significant enhancements that have been designed to improve back-end management of the timesheet system and to enhance the integration features of the product.
“Version 4.4.1 is not a major upgrade,” explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services for HMS Software. “Most end-users won’t notice the improvements. We have released some new functionality that is particularly important for TimeControl Administrators and IT personnel responsible for integrating TimeControl into other Line of Business Systems.”
TimeControl 4.4.1 includes two significant enhancements:
1. Pre- and Post- Posting Procedures
This feature allows an Administrator to identify an external process that will be run at the moment timesheets are locked during the posting procedure. The process can be a stored SQL procedure or even an executable which is called either immediately prior to or immediately following TimeControl’s Posting Procedure. The significance of this feature can be profound. Administrators can use this opportunity to condition data with any number of formulas or other data management processes such as integration with complex external labor rate rules. They can also use this moment as a “trigger” to other processes such as an import or export of data to other Line of Business systems such as Finance, HR or Payroll. The result can be the movement of data in real time.
2. Security on Expense columns
This feature extends TimeControl’s expansive field-level security model to items included in Expense Report entries. Previous versions of TimeControl have made the expense report entries tremendously flexible, allowing an unlimited number of user-defined columns to be created. Until now, these columns were not managed using the TimeControl User Profiles module for field-level security. By extending the User Profiles module to include these fields, Administrators can now create expense reports where certain entry fields appear for some users but not for others. The result is an expense management system that can be deployed to a much wider and more diverse audience.
The TimeControl 4.4.1 update includes numerous other improvements in performance, usability and enhancements to existing functionality.
TimeControl 4.4.1 is available for shipping immediately. Clients with a current support and maintenance contract will receive the new version free of charge. Pricing for new systems varies according to volume - from $50 to $160 per license.
