Oakland, Feb. 17: Representatives from Contra Costa County nonprofits and community service agencies, are invited to the FREE training “Agency Emergency Plan Basics” on Monday, February 28th, 2005. This class is designed to help participants develop or update an Agency Emergency Plan tailored to their agency needs, and:
- Explore ways to address planning obstacles facing nonprofit organizations
- Set up the structure to complete the plan with input from PrepareNow staff and other agencies
- Evaluate whether their plan is comprehensive, covers all major hazards and sets the stage for a sound financial future for their organization

Âna-Marie Jones, Executive Director of CARD - Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disasters will facilitate the class. Based in Oakland, CARD is the lead and fiscal agent of the PrepareNow Collaborative.
The PrepareNow Collaborative is regional association dedicated to bringing emergency preparedness, disaster response and business continuity skills and awareness to community based organizations. Created after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, these nonprofits and community initiatives address emergency preparedness for special needs communities and work to support, educate and complement the efforts of traditional, mass care, disaster response organizations.
