February 28, 2005 (Press Release) -- SAN MATEO, Calif. – February 7, 2005: SuccessFactors, Inc., the market and Web business application leader in on-demand workforce performance management, today announced that the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has chosen SuccessFactors to help align employee performance around the foundation’s core objectives and ensure that individuals are paid for performance. With the vision of encouraging for-profit business best practices to elevate employee performance in a non-profit world, the Foundation will begin rolling out SuccessFactors’ performance management technology this month to their employee base.

Prior to choosing a partnership with SuccessFactors, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation was leveraging an internally developed performance management review system. Based on high employee growth, however, the organization’s needs changed, requiring more functionality without high dependence on IT support. After reviewing technology options, the Foundation chose to work with SuccessFactors based on the technology’s ease of use, short implementation times and overall product capability. After assessing available technologies, the Foundation realized that SuccessFactors’ ASP-based technology offering enabled implementation schedules that were three times shorter than other offerings and ensured an ease of use that resulted in customized form development in less than an hour’s time.

As responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation needs to operate as a focused and agile organization,” said Saul Macias, Moore Foundation HR Director. “SuccessFactors’ technology enables the Foundation to apply the same business rigor that we apply to our grantees to ourselves. By aligning employees around our organization’s goals, SuccessFactors helps bring accountability down to an individual level.”

In 2000, The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation began a five year, human resource driven plan that included developing management skills, defining and implementing MBO’s and increasing employee’s visibility into the company’s yearly goals. In 2005, with the help of SuccessFactors’ Workforce Performance Manager and Compensation
Planning modules, the Foundation will more effectively implement a three-phase review process that encompasses objective setting, mid-year self assessments, end-of-year assessments and reviews as well as pay for performance.

“Aligning, motivating and elevating employee performance have proven to be key in realizing an organization’s goals,” said Lars Dalgaard, SuccessFactors CEO. “By following the course on a long-term performance planning vision and implementing SuccessFactors technology, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has proven that they are leading their peers in their goal of delivering exceptional performance.”
The SuccessFactors Workforce Performance Management Suite is composed of distinct capabilities, all of which are fully integrated. The technology’s ease-of-use, rapid deployment and on-demand delivery allow customers to solve immediate needs by getting to productive events in record time. The entire suite is highly scalable and modular, allowing customers to add new modules when they’re ready – “on demand.”
