Ski back to your front door on 2 April for a week from Gatwick in the small Méribel Village about 1½ miles from the resort centre. £399 pp (was £415) provides a week self-catering at the Fermes de Méribel apartments (sleeps up to 6 people) with directline skiing.
Accommodation is based in two chalet buildings on 5 floors built in local traditional style. Facilities include a pool, sauna, and gym. Apartments have balconies, shower or bath and a kitchen with a dishwasher.
There are good views over the Tarentaise Valley with skiing and boarding on the door step and access to the Trois Valleés resorts of Les Menuires and Val Thorens. Regular buses are free to ski pass holders.
Meribel is a good choice for April as the resort is set at 4,757 ft and the accommodation has its own blue run that returns to the chalet apartment.
