March 9, 2005 (Press Release) --
(Bowmansville, PA) March 20th will mark the 2nd anniversary of the onset of the conflict in Iraq. On that day, throughout the nation, there will be memorial walks, vigils, and rallies taking place.
It is a day on which we can express our sorrow for those who have fallen and the desire for peace. Whether you support the actions being taken in the region or you feel strongly against it, we can all agree that we desire a peaceful end to the fighting shortly.
There is a positive way to express your desire for peace.
When Peace Talks© is an original, sterling silver pendant design, resulting from the study of peace and peacemakers throughout history. It is a singular icon, with layers of ancient history and symbolism, which speaks to all of man/woman-kind. From outer ring to inner ring, the symbols represent the dot and dash pattern for “Peace/Love” in Morse code, the equal sign for “Equality,” the Chinese symbol for “Love,” and the dot pattern for “Peace/Love” in Braille. The three dots enclosed in a circle are of ancient origin, and stand for “Peace; Past, Present and Future.” It also represents the preservation of, and respect for art, science and religion within different races and cultures. These symbols are contained within concentric circles, which represent the act of passing these concepts on to future generations. The center bead symbolizes the world, and the preservation of its resources. Because of its spiritual meaning, the piece is affixed to a pendant, so it can be worn close to the heart.
The pendant is a new symbol of peace that embodies the universal message of love, peace, equality, and respect for different races, cultures and religions. It is an icon that everyone can understand and embrace. People of all ages from around the world are wearing the pendant and find it to be inspiring and uplifting.
Designers Chris and Holly Gage of Gage Designs created the When Peace Talks© pendant as a personal expression of hope and peace. “It is our way of spreading a positive message of peace in our homes, neighborhoods, schools, and around the world and passing it on to the next generation. We hope that being ‘peaceful’ would become trendy -- now how neat would that be?” says Holly.
