Press Release
InnovaQuartz, Incorporated (IQinc) of Phoenix, Arizona is pleased to announce the acquisition of the 3M(TM) TECS(TM) multimode optical fiber product line located in West Haven, Connecticut. InnovaQuartz will move the TECS(TM)/Power Core Multimode fiber production business to its new, state-of-the-art fiber draw facility in Phoenix.
TECS multimode fiber is considered one of the world’s most reliable and efficient optical fibers for use in high energy laser delivery; it will complement InnovaQuartz’ existing high dimensional precision fiber production capabilities. The TECS fiber will be renamed and marketed as IQinc TEQS(TM) Multimode Fiber. The IQinc TEQS Multimode Fiber will be available in the second quarter of 2005.
In addition to producing a full line of quartz and silica materials including flexible capillary, rods and tubes drawn to the most accurate and precise dimensions available, InnovaQuartz, Incorporated (IQinc) designs, manufactures and sells laser-machined components, fiber optic assemblies and capillary devices made from these products for laser surgery (SureFlex(TM), MaxLight(TM)) and diagnostics, spectroscopy, chromatography and defense applications. For more information, visit www.InnovaQuartz.com.
3M Company will continue to sell a wide range of fiber optic products through its Communication Markets Division. Among the products it will continue to sell are those based on its proprietary GGP (glass-glass-polymer) fiber technology and families of other products to connect, protect and organize fiber cables in the areas of fiber-to-the-X in the telecom access market, as well as in the enterprise network market. 3M’s fiber product line complements its copper network products. Both stem from the company’s involvement with the communications industry for more than 40 years. 3M Communication Markets Division customers include every major telecommunications service provider in the world.
