March 16, 2005 (Press Release) --
Stockholm, Oslo, Munich, 9 March 2005 Following the success of its ring back tone service (Ringuppsignaler), launched in Sweden in May 2004, the Tele2 Group is now rolling out Ringoppsignaler in Norway. After the ECT Group the market leader for intelligent value-added services in fixed and mobile networks provided the complete solution for Ringuppsignaler, Tele2/Comviq became the first company in Scandinavia to offer its customers the innovative service. Now, with a centralised installation for the ring back tone service in Sweden, the service will be delivered to Tele2s customers in Norway as the ECT Ring Back Tone Application supports country-specific network and user interfaces as well as local currency and content. As a result, the service can be offered in additional countries with virtually no additional CAPEX and OPEX.
With the ECT Ring Back Tone Application, mobile customers can choose various songs, jokes, or other sounds played to the person who calls them, while they also hear the familiar ring back tone. The service works regardless of who calls. All Tele2 Norway mobile phone customers can use the service. The new service, including a complete demonstration of the web interface, can be seen at www.tele2.no.
The Tele2 Group, Europes leading alternative telecommunications supplier of fixed-line and mobile telephony solutions, can now expand to tap into the ring back tone revenue streams and further continue to differentiate its mobile services from the competition in Norway.
The monthly subscription fee for Ringoppsignaler will be free of charge until June 1; after this there will be a subscription fee of 19 NOK (= EUR 2.30) per month, with each ring back tone priced between 20 NOK (= EUR 2.42) and 30 NOK (= EUR 3.63). Tele2 is offering content from multiple content providers for the service. The mobile-user can set the ring back tones based on the person calling, as well as the time of day and date. Subscribers can buy and configure their personalised ring back tone over a wide variety of user interfaces, including the Internet, WAP, and SMS.
The ECT Group offers a customisable and scalable solution for the ring back tone service, having realized a number of successful projects with major carriers across Europe, including Vodafone D2 in Germany, Tele2 in Sweden and Norway, TeliaSonera Finland, and Omnitel in Lithuania. The solution includes network interfaces for post-paid and prepaid billing and provisioning, a statistics package, and a content provider interface.
I am pleased that our long-time partner, Tele2, is banking on our technology for a great variety of value-added services in fixed and mobile networks all over Europe, said Dr. Marshall E. Kavesh, CEO and co-founder of the ECT Group. Our cost-effective solutions have proven to guarantee a fast return on investment.
The ECT Ring Back Tone Application allows operators to market the service together with one or several content providers, who by their own-branded web portals serve as indirect sales channels and contribute to the commercial success of the new service.
