March 18, 2005 (Press Release) --
On March 13, 2005, The Free Church Online held its first Virtual Service at http://www.freechurchonline.org. Rev. Amy Garner founded the church on the belief that the church is composed of all believers worldwide. Members believe the church should not seek recognition or acceptance from the government. When churches incorporate themselves as 501c non-profits, then they become creatures of the state and not the Body of Christ. In the United States, churches are automatically tax-exempt and contributions are automatically tax-deductible.
Rev. Garner says, “We hear a lot of talk about the separation of church and state. However, much damage has been done to that separation by churches becoming incorporated state-organizations instead of ‘free’ churches separate from the workings of the government.” The Free Church Online exists separate and distinct from the state. The Free Church Online recognizes only one head of the church -- Jesus.
The Free Church Online is a non-denominational peace church that affirms the Nicene Creed. Rev. Garner and church members hold dear the words of Jesus encouraging us to love our enemies and to be peacemakers in this world. The heart of their belief in peace is grounded in the fact that God created all persons in his own image. God's grace is extended to all. Salvation is available to all.
The Free Church Online welcomes all visitors. Membership is free and can be applied for online at the website. The Virtual Sanctuary is a java-based chat room. The Sanctuary is open each Sunday at 5 p.m. CST.
