NEW YORK, NY (April 6, 2005) – The Door, New York City’s premier youth development agency, announced today the honorees for its highly anticipated 3rd Annual “Opening Doors” Gala which will take place at Christie’s, located at 20 Rockefeller Plaza on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 6 PM.
Awards will be presented to Iman, beauty industry icon and Founder and CEO of IMAN Cosmetics, Fragrances & Skincare; L. Londell McMillan, Entertainment Attorney, Developer and Co-Founder of the Artist Empowerment Coalition; Tina Wells, CEO of Buzz Marketing Group; and Gap Inc. Each will be individually recognized for their outstanding contributions and ongoing efforts to empower and inspire New York City’s youth.
Hosted by MTV News Correspondent, SuChin Pak, this year’s Opportunity Rocks-themed gala will celebrate the dynamic and energizing role of the music program at The Door, where it is used as an educational, therapeutic and creative tool. The evening will feature a special musical performance by Door youth, in addition to award presentations for this year’s honorees.
“The Door’s ongoing mission is to empower and inspire the City’s underserved youth. We encourage young people to reach their potential by providing a comprehensive network of free and confidential services in a supportive and respectful environment,” said Michael H. Zisser, Ph.D., Executive Director of The Door. “Our Annual Gala is not only the most important fundraiser of the year, but is also an opportunity to recognize and thank those who support our mission. We look forward to a wonderful and memorable evening.”
