International Kung Fu Champions appearing in Reno at Sierra Nevada Martial Arts Tournament
Tiger Kung Fu Reno is hosting its 5th Annual Sierra Nevada Martial Arts Tournament Saturday, May 14 Wooster High School in Reno.
The tournament is open to all ages and medals will be awarded in several categories. The Sierra Nevada Martial Arts event is a forum for students to demonstrate their progress in Kung Fu, or other martial art to their families, friends and fellow students, and to raise themselves to new levels of proficiency and confidence through performance.
This year, The Tiger Kung Fu Demo Team will perform a traditional Chinese Lion Dance and Demonstration by Gold and Silver Medal Winners from the 2004 International Wu Shu Championship, in China. There are many events included in this tournament; such as Choy Li Fu Kung Fu Forms, Short and Long Weapon Forms, Two-person Sets, and several types of sparring events; Point, Continuous, Short Weapon Sparring, Long Weapon Sparring, and Tai Chi Push Hands.
“As always the main emphasis of this Tournament is on based on participation,” said tournament director Kelly Durant. “We strive for an atmosphere of support and encouragement, rather than pressure and competition.”
Approximately 200 participants representing several schools from Reno, Nevada are participated in the daylong event at Wooster High. Award ceremonies including Best Overall will be awarded at the tournament, which is expecting over 600 visitors. Sifu Zai and a Team of Certified Instructors from all schools will judge the competition.
