A Question of Scale

Once again Steve Collins of Fresno, CA. has shocked the photographic industry by creating three giant photographs for the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Two images are 9 feet by 50 feet long and a third is over 70 feet long. The images show the stunning beauty of Yosemite Valley and the high mountain range of the Ansel Adams wilderness. Local area residents have referred to Steve as Ansel Adams Jr. but Steve is producing photographs on a scale Ansel Adams could only dream about. The advent of digital capture and output has been wonderful for some and a problem for many professional photographers. With consumer digital cameras, dropping in price and the advancement in technology, anyone can take great photos. But generating images on this scale is something altogether different. Several articles have appeared in national magazines on Mr. Collin's work and the local television stations have covered the installation process at the airport. Steve�s latest undertaking is an underwater mural that is expected to be 20 by 600 feet long, for a proposed public Aquarium in Fresno, CA. This mural is to be constructed on the site of the Aquarium to draw attention to the project. This will be in place as an art exhibit until the building is constructed.
