May 12, 2005 (Press Release) --
LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 12, 2005 — NetWorld Alliance, owner of KIOSKmarketplace.com, Kiosk magazine, and the forthcoming SelfServiceWorld.com, announces it will now produce its semiannual tradeshow under the name The Self Service & Kiosk Show.
The first show under the new name will be held Oct. 17-18 in San Francisco at the South San Francisco Conference Center. For more information on the venue and accommodations, and to apply for registration, visit the Self Service & Kiosk Show Web site: http://www.selfservicekiosk.com.
The Self Service & Kiosk Show is a two-day tradeshow designed to educate businesses about opportunities to adopt self-service technology, to allow attendees to take advantage of real-world kiosk demonstrations, and to learn about the processes and major considerations necessary for a successful self-service program. Show attendees are pre-screened buyers, key decision-makers or influencers involved in the purchasing or management of self-service/interactive kiosk solutions.
The show’s new name reflects the kiosk industry’s evolution from stand-alone machines to integrated self-service systems of all shapes, sizes and uses — from mini kiosks on shopping carts to kiosk-driven digital displays in movie theaters and more.
“The kiosk market is diversifying,” said Greg Swistak, executive director of Kiosks.Org Association. “It’s becoming increasingly difficult to look at machines such as self-service checkouts, smart carts, shopping assistants, automated shipping machines and digital signage and call them kiosks. It is apparent, however, that these machines are filling a request from businesses and their customers for solutions that are faster, more convenient and easier to use. Many businesses are turning to self-service solutions to fulfill this need,” and the show’s name change mirrors that.
“The Self Service & Kiosk Show will represent the broader and rapidly growing elements of self-service strategies and technology beyond the use of electronic self-service kiosks,” said Dick Good, chief executive officer of Louisville, Ky.-based NetWorld Alliance, which bought The Kiosk Show from Minneapolis-based Voyagi Inc. in July 2004.
NetWorld produced its first Kiosk Show in Boston in October 2004. The show drew 300 attendees. Enthusiastic attendee response motivated company executives to double the number of annual shows and expand the show floor and the number of seminars and workshops. The first spring show, held in Orlando, Fla., drew 400 attendees. The event in San Francisco is expected to grow similarly.
“The show in San Francisco will include many more technologies and strategies than have previously been included in kiosk shows and exhibits. We are dedicated to help businesses in all vertical industries meet the demand their customers are generating for self-service facilities,” said Good.
