ATLANTA, MAY 13th, 2005- MVA Scientific Consultants is hitting the road this summer by participating in a number of special events. In April, Managing Director and Senior Research Scientist Tim B. Vander Wood, Ph.D. presented a paper entitled "Particle Size Distributions in Method 5 Stack Samples Determined by Microscopical Methods" at the Symposium on Air
Quality Measurement Methods and Technology 2005 in San Francisco.
Next, Dr. Vander Wood will travel to Reno, NV to attend the ASTM Committee E56 on Nanotechnology on May 16th, 2005. Recently formed by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) International, The E56 committee provides a forum for all existing technical disciplines to collaborate on issues relating to standards and guidance materials for nanotechnology and nanomaterials on a global scale. Dr. Vander Wood is a founding member of the committee, which currently consists of over 70 members and organizations with twelve countries represented on the E56 membership roster.
Meanwhile in Moscow, Idaho, Research Microscopist Bryan R. Bandli will be making a presentation at The 15th Annual Goldschmidt Conference on May 25th. Held at the University of Idaho, The Goldschmidt Conference is the premier annual meeting in geochemistry and mineralogy. Each year the conference covers the full range of geochemistry from cosmochemistry to the origin of life. Bandli’s presentation at the event will focus on “Colorblindness as a Handicap to Learning Petrography and Polarized Light Microscopy and Aids for the Color-Deficient Microscopist”.
The ASTM meeting and Goldschmidt Conference are the first in a series of lectures, presentations and events that MVA Scientific Consultants will be making throughout the summer. The appearances are part of the Firm’s efforts to exchange knowledge with other scientists and clients through leading-edge training, high-level presentations, and client-commissioned research.
