Texas screenwriter presents LIPSTICK DETECTIVES: The Texas Mafia Connection
Article by Heather White, The Hollywood Buzz
Texas author, Sydney Newman Dotson, has the attention of actors, agents, publishers, independent film producers and movie studios in Hollywood. Her first book, "No Greater Deception: A True Texas Story," of the Newman Family Trilogy is currently the #1 true crime autobiography on the market. Paramount Pictures recently requested a copy of Dotson's screenplay, LIPSTICK DETECTIVES: THE TEXAS MAFIA CONNECTION, that's based on the Newman family trilogy.
LIPSTICK DETECTIVES: THE TEXAS MAFIA CONNECTION takes place primarily in Dallas, Galveston, Houston, and Longview and neighboring counties. Dotson, a former IBM executive and corporate spy, and her sister, a CFO at a space museum in Houston, are the main characters, and spy sisters in this blockbuster bestseller.
Sydney Dotson Productions was formed to co-produce a film and follow-up TV series based on Dotson's Newman family trilogy. Potential partners that have indicated an interest in the project include Paramount Pictures, the Maloof brothers (Insomnia Entertainment) and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who also owns 2929 Entertainment, Magnolia Films, HDNet Films, and a piece of Lion's Gate Films.
Tilman Fertitta of Landry's Restaurants, and Lorenzo Fertitta of Station Casinos, have been invited to come onboard as co-producers as well. Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) and Dixie Carter (Designing Women) are considering playing New York mafia kingpin Joe Bonanno and Betty Newman, the evil stepmother.
Actors and actresses who would like to play roles in this film project heard about Dotson's book and endeavor to produce a film from Hollywood insiders. The author's book, film treatment and screenplay film script are being reviewed by a number of people in the film industry.
Dotson and her sister, the LIPSTICK DETECTIVES, have been seen hawking their one-minute pitch and trilogy at several film festivals, including Sundance, Tribeca and South by Southwest Film Conference (SXSW). They plan to attend the Cannes Film Festival, Showest, Women in the Director's Chair, Reel Women International, USA Film Festival, Austin Film Festival and Texas Film Festival. Screenwriter, actor, director, producer, Harold Ramis, will be presented the Distinguished Screenwriter award Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Austin Film Festival. His movies include Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, Analyze This, Meatballs, Bedazzled, Armed and Dangerous, and a new Owen Wilson Project.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Hold onto your bootstraps folks! If you liked Erin Brockovich, you'll be thoroughly intrigued with the adventures of these two sisters, their knack for investigative work, and their family in Texas. This is a stirring, humorous and unconventional true story about their epics and a tainted Texas Justice System.
Sydney and her sister Heather will take you through their gut wrenching, nerve racking, emotional roller coaster ride that occurs after their father dies and their stepmother turns in a suspicious Last Will and Testament that leaves the stepmother the entire estate.
As the two beautiful blonde bombshells face their father's death, an evil stepmother, and a tainted legal system, they introduce themselves to many people while searching for missing pieces of the family puzzle. What they discover makes the sisters question everything they once thought was real.
Is their father, the Texas lawman and rancher, the man they think he is? How was he able to buy all the guns, diamonds, land and mineral rights that he owned? His oil, gas and lignite holdings are worth millions.
How involved was he in gambling, prostitution, bootlegging and gun running along the Galveston Bay? Were his connections to George Bush, Lyndon Johnson, Lady Bird, Jack Ruby and New York Mafia Kingpin Joe Bonanno much deeper than they seemed?
Was he a made man? Or simply a bodyguard for the Bonanno, Maceo, Moody, Fertitta and Salvato families on the Galveston Bay? Could he truly involved in the JFK assassination? Perhaps that's why Lady Bird Johnson, the Secret Service, Mafia, Texas Rangers and law police officers across the country attended his funeral.
What they learn about their stepmother Betty is devastating. How did the town whore come to marry their father the Police Chief? Did she kill her only brother and father and forge their Last Wills and Testaments and Living Wills too? Just how many accomplices does she have? Are some of them their own brothers and sisters?
What the two sisters' forensic document expert, Mrs. Higgins, discovers will send chills up and down your spine. Betty Newman may be a black widow serial killer and mafia madam, and their lives are in danger.
"No Greater Deception: A True Texas Story," is the #1 true crime autobiography about identity theft, forgery and fraud within a family. It's a shocking expose about the LIPSTICK DETECTIVES, victims of inheritance fraud.
"It's a real life Texas Soap Opera of love, death, betrayal and justice. Move over DALLAS, here comes HOUSTON," says Liz Carpenter, Lady Bird Johnson's WHITE HOUSE press secretary.
"NO GREATER DECEPTION: A True Texas Story," is available today on 400 websites in 22 countries, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders and Books a Million.
