May 21, 2005 (Press Release) --
(New York, NY) – May 21, 2005 – It certainly wouldn’t be the first time a rap artist has “stepped into the ring swinging” but the 20-year old Lucy Diamonds has given a whole new meaning to the phrase. The audacious single “Sorry Right Number!” attacks Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown and Trina, and doesn’t only put hip-hop divas in the line of fire!
The song that hasn’t even been officially released has already caused a surge of [teenagers] to call radio stations and request a song that the radio programmers don’t even have. Parents are outraged to find teenagers so consistently eager to hear such offensive language and humor. Yet the radio stations and program directors are feeling the pressure to be the first to break the single out of cyberspace and onto the airwaves, knowing that the heavy demand from the audience is there. The song has even landed a Hot 97 mention in reference to the wave of “diss” songs released from various hip-hop artists recently.
The song itself is a novelty that could easily be construed as malicious, however, enough sarcasm can be detected to encourage otherwise. The song mentions Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes, Nick & Jessica Simpson, Britney & Kevin Federline, Cameron Diaz & Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson & Jermaine Dupri and many, many more. My personal favorite line includes Demi Moore, with Diamonds lending an “indecent proposal” to Ashton Kutcher.
Yet despite the ruckus this single has created, several attempts to contact her publicist, Jonathan Hay via email have all gone unanswered.
