TRUSTe awards its privacy seal only to companies that complete the rigorous TRUSTe certification process.

The TRUSTe Privacy Seal signifies a Web site has posted a privacy statement and that its Web site information gathering and dissemination practices address the elements of notice, choice, access, and security. The Safe Harbor program was created to help U.S. companies comply with the European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection, enabling U.S. companies to avoid interruptions in their business dealings with the European Union, and ensure the utmost in user data privacy.
To date, less than 1,500 web sites are licensed holders of the TRUSTe “trustmark,” and only 90 organizations worldwide have been certified to display the EU Safe Harbor seal.
