Brian Hoolahan founder and CEO of Music-Reg and former radio producer, was disgusted after the press claimed Wallace used a ‘poor mans copyright’ – sending a self sealed envelope to himself - to verify his right of copyright.
‘Calling his registration by mail a poor mans copyright is an insult to Steve Wallace and degrading, but at the same time it is a method that is totally outdated in 2005. People should be able to prove they are the creators of their work at the push of a button.
In most countries copyright is awarded the moment a work is created, yet the greatest problem for any person is proving it existed at that moment in time. If a work is not published or made known to the general public, proof of copyright is a difficult task'.
