On April 20, 2005, President Bush signed into law a tougher bankruptcy bill into law. This effects each holder of a credit card. President Bush is quoted as saying:
“The act of Congress I sign today will protect those who legitimately need help, stop those who try to commit fraud and bring greater stability and fairness to our financial system.”
Credit card issuers know they have the upper hand, and the bill takes effect six months after signing. This limits your rights to negotiate a fair settlement with credit card issuers. President Bush is quoted with saying:
