Words from the Heart is a collection of poetry that was written just as the name suggests, from the heart. The poems are written in words everyone can relate to, no flowery words or hidden meanings, just words that express feelings we have all felt at sometime or another.
The poems in Words from the Heart were written over a span of 15 years. They are more an expression of raw emotion than they are simply poems. The poems in the collection were chosen because some were written by a naïve teenage girl, and the rest were written at different stages of womanhood. These poems express the emotions we all feel but may not be able to put into words.

Alling states that, "The poems in this book were not written with the intent of getting published, they were written to help myself and at times my friends express deep emotions not easily spoken. I had resisted friends and families suggestions to get published because editors generally want to change things around, and these poems aren't so much poetry as they are raw emotions. You just can't change emotions. Then I learned of Lulu. Getting it published and printed through Lulu was perfect for me because I wanted total control and it was a breeze."
