Naperville, Illinois… April 2005 – The National Association for Employee Recognition (N.A.E.R.) has elected new officers for 2005-2006.
Each of the new officers has been active for years in N.A.E.R., a non-profit association with over 600 members dedicated to enhancing employee performance through recognition. N.A.E.R. membership extends throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Republic of Korea, Spain and Canada. The new officer’s drawn from this diverse pool, will serve a one-year term in his or her new leadership role.
The new Executive Board of Directors include:
s President: Robert Chovanec, an employment attorney and partner with Warner Norcross & Judd LLP in Michigan
s Executive Vice President: Steve Richardson, Manager Recognition Programs, RBC Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto
s Vice President: Denise White, Chairperson, UMHHC Employee Recognition Programs, University of Michigan Health Systems
s Treasurer: Tom Miller, President, The Miller Company, Texas
s Secretary/Past President: Debra Sikanas, President, Baudville, Michigan.
The newly elected Directors include:
s Kay Clark-Cox, Director of Marketing and Customer Relations, LaPorte Regional Health System, Indiana
s Carole Erken, Human Resources Leader, Kaiser Permanente, California
s Susan Lyons, Manager, Employee Programs, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Tennessee
s Lisa Massiello, Employee Engagement Leader for the Operations, Technology and eCommerce Division, Wachovia Bank, North Carolina

“We would like to welcome the new officers of N.A.E.R., who have already begun working to promote our mission and expand our membership,” said Christi Gibson, executive director of N.A.E.R. “I look forward to working with this new leadership team to further advance our work in the months ahead.
A key finding from Northwestern University’s study titled – Linking Organizational Characteristics to Employee Attitudes and Behavior - found that ‘There is a direct link between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction, and between customer satisfaction and improved financial performance.’* This confirms meaningful employee recognition programs are vital to any and all organizations both large and small striving for success.” Gibson added, “Our association provides the resource materials and opportunities for meaningful dialogue and the sharing of best practices to promote the use of recognition programs.”
