There are only 2 distinct and operational reasons why Mark Felt would have chosen to break the law to expose crimes being committed by the Executive Branch of the US Government. The first is that his zeal for law and order compelled him to become a criminal himself in order to expose the criminal acts of others. The second is that the FBI was actively engaged in criminal operations to the extent that only a controlled exposure of some of the Government's crimes, just enough to satisfy the American people, was necessary to prevent all facts related to the Special Teams, including assassinations from being revealed.
This Special Team of Watergate burglars was only the tip of the iceberg. CIA operatives and other quasi-criminal and government officials mixed in were typical of these teams of operatives that were charged with everything from burglaries to assassinations of high profile leaders considered threats to our National Security.
The use of Mark Felt and Bob Woodward to vent just enough information to nudge President Nixon out of the Whitehouse and effectively put a cover over the crimes that would have come out related to other Special Team criminal acts is pure genius. The public became obsessed with the Watergate Scandal via the press and forgot about the cover-up of the assassinations of JFK, MLK and RFK. The fact that E. Howard Hunt who was a member of the Watergate Burglars had also been identified as being at the scene of JFK's assassination in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 and at the scene of MLK's assassination in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. He denies it but to this day the CIA has not provided proof that he wasn't.
It would be easy enough to explain his and other Special Team members’ presence if they had been under orders to protect JFK and MLK but their presence outside of official orders creates a conundrum. Look at this in relation to the assassinations and the knowledge that J. Edgar Hoover and others in the Mafia and the US Government wanted both men dead and some even considered both threats to our National Security. Add it all up and include the Mafia's desire to kill Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy and his public stand to end the Vietnam War if elected and the whole thing starts to make sense.
Mark Felt, who is now known as 'Deep Throat' was a foil for the US Government and Organized Crime in their continuing cover-up of the assassinations of JFK, MLK and RFK. His exposure of crimes via the press only proves that no matter how you flip it he was entrenched in a criminal operation. If this was not true he could have prosecuted the crimes through legal and official proceedings. When US Government Officials know crimes have been and are being committed and they say they cannot bring charges and prosecute the criminals then they are part of a conspiracy to continue and cover-up the crimes.
