I offer my services to exporters in Kolkata as a part-time consultant / manager / executive for export marketing of leather goods and corporate gift & promotional items.
As for my background, I have several years' service experience in administration & marketing up to branch / regional management level in Kolkata and Mumbai.
Subsequently, for about 17 years, I worked for five companies in Kolkata as a part-timer, basically engaged in export marketing, but handling practically everything related to exports – even starting from forms & formalities in case of new exporters and, in some cases, running almost the entire show (despite working part-time). In February 03, I shifted to Mumbai, and have been working here for five exporters, handling mainly leather goods, besides giftware & textile fashion accessories.
I have the requisite product knowledge particularly in the field of Leather Goods, besides personal exposure to overseas markets through several marketing tours of Germany, Italy, UK, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, Hong Kong and Bangladesh since 1993 (16 times), and participation in Int'l Leather Goods Fair in Germany (8 times) & India (5 times) since 1995, either on behalf of, or along with, the concerned exporter-client.
In 1996, I participated in a Workshop-cum-Seminar on Export Marketing Management of Leather Goods in Rotterdam on invitation from CBI, a Netherlands Government organisation.
I have excellent rapport with the CLE, CLRI, NLDP, ILPA, JDGFT, ITPO, IGEP etc, and have some very helpful contacts abroad (including CBI, Rotterdam, in particular, who has helped me in several ways).
Apart from product / market / buyer identification, business correspondence, customer contact, business negotiation & follow-up (including internet marketing), if and when necessary, I can handle, or assist in, (i) the requisite forms & formalities, (ii) sourcing, procurement and / or production sub-contracting, (iii) pricing, vis-à-vis cost & incentives, (iv) shipment / logistics & documentation, (v) Bank Documentation / Negotiation, (vi) ECGC & insurance matters and (vii) website promotion & management. I can speak German (also learning French), and am well conversant with computer, email & internet marketing.
I would be glad to work once or twice a week, half- or full-day, on fixed monthly remuneration basis. Because of the nature of my involvement with more than one exporters with similar interests, and the way I work, however, I would be unable to work on commission or profit-sharing basis. (Although I may be ‘working’ once or twice a week at your place, I shall provide complete back-end office support from home as things develop — the way I have functioned during the last two decades in Kolkata and Mumbai. This will ensure minimum communication gap with buyers).
I seek appointments in Kolkata in July (8–11), when I can discuss the way I may be of service.
