NJ Woman Offers Spare Bedroom And Home Cooked Meals To
Celebrities On E-bay
Middlesex, NJ- Bev Drake describes herself as a simple
woman. Born in NJ over half a century ago, she has
seen many changes in the Garden State, yet many things
have stayed the same. “Middlesex still has that small
suburb charm” says Bev, “crime is nearly non-existent,
the neighbors are friendly, and on any given day you
can still find people lazing about over at the duck
pond”. It’s exactly this small town; “It’s A
Wonderful Life” charm that Bev hopes will attract
celebrities to her home. In an effort to raise funds
to pay for her daughter’s upcoming wedding in August,
Bev has listed a thirty-day stay in what was once her
eldest son’s bedroom along with a month’s worth of
home cooked meals on E-bay for $999.00. Disabled with a congestive heart
condition and blindness in one eye, Bev has been
supporting herself by selling her belongings on E-bay.
“When my daughter, Danielle, told me she was engaged
I was thrilled, but I was also scared because I hadn’t
saved anything to pay for a wedding”. In an age where
the majority of couples marring over thirty pay for
their own weddings, Bev’s daughter clings to tradition
and asked Bev to fund her nuptials in Vermont, her
fiancée’s birthplace. A frenzy of E-baying followed
but the bills continued to mount.
“Then one day it came to me” remarked Bev, “I could
offer one of my spare rooms on E-bay and hope that a
celebrity like Ellen DeGeneres or Dave Letterman rents
it”. An unrealistic fantasy? “Perhaps,” says Bev,
“but that woman got $30,000.000 on E-bay for toast!
I’m offering a place to sleep and my home made
lasagna!”
So far, she has received no bids.
The listing can be found on E-bay under “WOW- 30 DAYS
IN NEW JERSEY FAMILY HOME, DINNER INCLUDED” it is item
6536900700.
