New Delhi, June 8, 2005: Fortis Healthcare Ltd., the fastest growing healthcare provider in India, today announced the launch of the group’s first Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi. To be built with an estimated investment of Rs. 250 crores, the 500-bed hospital will have comprehensive tertiary level services in all the specialties but would be unique from the perspective that it would super-specialise in 5 disciplines. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dikshit laid the foundation stone of the hospital at Shalimar Bagh. Dr. Yoganand Shastri, Hon’ble Health Minister, Delhi, and Shri Sajjan Kumar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Outer Delhi, graced this auspicious occasion as Guests of Honour.
The first of its kind in the region, the hospital will be multi super speciality in Cardiac, Orthopaedics, Neurosciences, Gastro-Intestinal Diseases and Renal & Genito-urinary Diseases. Besides these super specialties, the hospital will also have all other major disciplines. The hospital will be equipped with the latest Hospital Information System (HIS) and will be linked to other Fortis hospitals through a comprehensive IT backbone for sharing of knowledge and competencies so as to provide the best possible care to patients and their families.

Fortis will have a network of over 20 hospitals with over 4000 beds by 2009 with an investment of over 1100 crores.
