June 9, 2005 (Press Release) --
Philadelphia, PA June 14, 2005 – Music-On-Demand announced today the release of the Music-On-Demand Media Player, the world’s first peer-to-peer search-and-play radio system. With Music-On-Demand, users can find and listen to any song in the world instantly, without downloading any files whatsoever. The free software application provides unrestricted access to the Music-On-Demand network, a completely de-centralized database with over 20 million songs and music videos.
Music-On-Demand users who demand the right to control their own content now have the power to choose what they want to listen to and when, without the risk of being sued by the RIAA for illegal downloads. If the user wants to have any song in the Music-On-Demand database, he can record the desired track to a high quality MP3, thus allowing the user to acquire the file without ever downloading. Still, Music-On-Demand includes an extensive AMG licensed music store where users can purchase physical copies of songs and complete albums they enjoy listening to for their personal music collections. Music-On-Demand also features the ability to import and export playlists to iTunes, Windows Media Player and WinAmp for those finicky users who’d like to keep their current player but still reap the benefits of search and play radio.
C++ and Java versions of Music-On-Demand are currently ready for soft launch. A slim lined version of the MOD service will be released for use on mobile devices and cell phones later this year. Music-On-Demand is also portable to the XBOX gaming system, making it an ideal solution for in-home entertainment, and a viable alternative to Sirius and XM Satellite Radio.
The developers of Music-On-Demand are currently seeking distribution partnerships to take this project to market. There is a strong interest in online, possibly ad supported distribution, as well as retail and mobile telecom. A demonstration of the software is available upon request.
