ScreenwritersRus announces the opening of the ACE contests for screenwriters. These contests are international and are not limited to screenwriters in the United States. Founding Editor, Dr. Melissa Caudle describes the ACE Contests as the screenwriters dream contest to enter becauase, "they are developed by screenwriters, for screenwriters, to promote screenwriters."
Webster's Dictionary defines the word 'Ace' as "being of the highest rank or quality" and according to Caudle, that is exactly what ScreenWritersRus are looking for in their three contests. Once found, the winning screenplay and/or TV script will be promoted to industry professionals.
The three contests sponsored by ScreenWritersRus are the ACE Screenplay Contest, the ACE TV Script Contest, and the High School Screenwriter's Contest. Caudle says, "There is something for every screenwriter, both for television and major film, and aspiring teens." Caudle, a retired high school principal, turned screenwriter, still hasn't lost her love and zest for teens and has created an avuenue for them in developing screenwriting as a career path.
The ACE Screenplay Contest, is for the aspiring screenwriter in a major film category. The screenwriter must be at least 18 years of age and the screenplay must be unoptioned and unproduced. Submission begins June 15, 2005 with the winning screenplay announced December 15, 2005.
The ACE TV Script Contest is for the aspiring TV screenplay writer. This contest is looking for a TV drama, film, or sitcom. Like the ACE Screenplay Contest, the script must be unoptioned and unproduced. Submission begins January 1, 2006. The winner will be announced June 15,
2006.
The ACE High School Contest is only for teens and the screenwriter must be under the age of 19 and have parental consent to participate. Additionally, proof of registration in school or in a home-school situation will be required. The script or screenplay must be unoptioned and unproduced. Submission begins August 15, 2005. The winning script or screenplay will be announced May 1, 2006.
All of the ACE contests have prize packages valued around $1000 each and will be highlighted in a feature article in ScreenWritersRus. An Elite Judging Panel consisting of Emmy Award winning screenwriters from programs such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ironside, MacMillan and Wife, and producers on major films such as Amytiville Horror, Anger Management, and Good Morning Vietman.
