June 14, 2005 (Press Release) --
Halo Movie Rights Acquired
20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures have acquired the rights to the film adaption of Halo. Fox and Universal will be splitting the costs of the production of the film as well as distrubting the film.
Alex Garland, a Hollywood scriptwriter for films such as 28 Days Later, has completed work on the script for Halo. The script was handed personally by Master Chief himself to various film companies (or atleast some guy clad in some Spartan armor). The asking price for filming a cinematic version of Halo was a bit steep for some of the companies, which is why they rejected Microsoft's offer to begin with. However, a deal was made between Microsoft, 20th Century Fox, and Universal Pictures where the film would be purchased for half of the original selling price.
Halo: The Movie is scheduled to premiere in theaters around 2007. Keep your browser pointed at Xbox Core for up to date information on this project.
