June 20, 2005 (Press Release) --
(Indianapolis, Indiana) - With the exception of a few famous musical greats, Indiana is not known as a state where star quality musicians are. Jam! Indiana is working to change that perception by helping musicians expose their talents to the world. To be successful, musicians need to be able to widely promote their work and connect directly with audiences. In the past the only ways to sell music CDs were through major distribution deals or to fans at shows. The Internet has opened doors and avenues for independent artists that were formally closed off by the major record labels and studios. Recent developments in recording and manufacturing technology have made it possible for any artist or group to record, manufacture and sell their music directly through the Internet to the public anywhere in the world.
Jam! Indiana is an independent online music store that exclusively showcases music artists from Indiana. This is an advantage to musicians because their CD can become lost among the literately thousands of other CDs for sale on the most popular online stores. Since only Indiana musicians are featured, this website will remain relatively small. Visitors will be able to quickly browse through every artist on the website and will be more likely to stick around to listen to all the musicians' music. The more people who hear their music the more will buy it. "Being on a huge site is good, but not necessarily the best place for someone wanting to get their music heard a lot." says one musician who signed on with Jam! Indiana. "Unless a buyer goes to one of the big online stores knowing in advance what they are looking for, chances are they will never get around to finding your CD. True, most take time to browse, but how long will it take to listen to 10,000 different artists?"
Jam! Indiana has a simple, uncluttered and easy to manuever site. The absence of affiliate advertising on it's main pages is intentional. "We are not trying to make money off of ads. Our sole purpose is to help Indiana musicians promote their music, connect directly with audiences, build a fan base and profitably sell their CDs." says Charles Hollowell, the website creator and amateur musician. "We actively promote each artist by sending out music samples and press releases to all kinds of media sources. We also offer articles on effective music management skills and how to run a band in a tough market."
This business model apparently has it's appeal. Established in May 2005, Jam! Indiana has attracted several well known musicians plus some amateur talent. Each artist gets their own Personal Profile Page. Along with their music samples, artists will be able to include music videos, gig calenders, reviews and sell promotional merchandise all from their Profile Page. Artists can also use Jam! Indiana's shopping cart service to sell CDs and merchandise from their own websites.
About Us: Jam! Indiana is an online music store where you can buy and sell CDs from professional, independent and amateur talent from Indiana.
