June 22, 2005 (Press Release) --
June 22, 2005,Edmonton, Alberta - The past few years have seen the hobby of scrapbooking grow into a three billion dollar a year industry in North America. Local digital designer Katrina Bosch is helping hobbyists give the craft a digital twist as she opens her online store with a designer showcase this month. The website Scrappy Kats will be showcasing the work of several digital designers through a series of interactive chats over a three day period beginning on June 23rd.
“Digital scrapping is the perfect hobby for today’s busy lifestyle,” says Bosch, who began as a traditional scrapbooking hobbyist, “because it provides nearly instant gratification by allowing projects to be completed in one sitting and it saves money by not requiring all the papers, scissors and die-cuts.”
The grand opening of Scrappy Kats will highlight the many advantages of digital scrapbooking including the fact that the craft can be picked up in a very short amount of time. Many traditionalists are switching to digital scrapping because the craft is easier and more efficient with the aid of computers. Even beginners can enjoy a finished page by the end of a session. The programs required are inexpensive and typically feature a try before you buy download.
“I enjoyed the traditional paper techniques, but I found it nearly impossible to work on projects with my young children around,” explains Bosch. “It got to be so that even thinking of pulling my supplies out became a chore. So I started exploring ways to continue with the hobby without all the hassles.”
Anyone interested in digital scrapping is invited to log on to the free event beginning on the morning of June 23rd at www.scrappykats.com. The event will feature free giveaways, project starters and an online scavenger hunt. Instructive seminars are scheduled throughout the 23rd, 24th, and 25th of June. Designers at the event will include Katrina Bosch, Christine Nash, Amykrh Designs, Keely Bostick, Ginger Thibodeau, Melissa Butscher, Microferk Designs, and Sherry Green.
