American Hot Rod�s Boyd Coddington to unveil custom build at Camp Pendleton

The original hot rodder, Boyd Coddington, along with his wife, Jo, who appear on the hit television series, American Hot Rod (airing Fridays on the Discovery Channel at 10 p.m. ET/PT), will unveil the latest creation to come out of Boyd Coddington�s Garage, as well as be on hand to support our troops at Southern California�s Camp Pendleton at 9:00 a.m. through 10:30 am PST Monday, June 27, 2005. The latest car is a �59 Chevy Impala that has been transformed to resemble a California Speedster. To make the build even more unique, a motorcycle has been crafted to match the car, with 100 percent of the bodywork custom designed. Marines will also catch a glimpse of the making of American Hot Rod, which has been picked up for thirteen additional episodes, as the Discovery crew follows Boyd to Camp Pendleton.

�This is a real nice deal because we�re going to unveil both the car and the bike in front of the troops that are going to Iraq,� Coddington said. �Hopefully we can make them smile, and this is our way to show how appreciative we are about what they are doing, so that we can continue to enjoy the freedom we love in this country of ours.�

This latest unveiling is an example of Coddington�s continued support of the troops, who recently visited the aircraft carrier, USS Nimitz. Coddington partnered with Miller Welding to donate state-of-the-art Boyd Coddington signature welding helmets to the machinists aboard the Nimitz. Coddington is also planning a welcome home visit to the crew of the Nimitz when they return in November when he will display many of his legendary custom hot rods.

Located 38 miles north of downtown San Diego, Camp Pendleton is the home base of many Marine units, including 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st Marine Division, and 1st Force Service Support Group. Over 60,000 military and civilian personnel work at the base every day, providing support to the numerous training facilities that are located on the base. Camp Pendleton can more than adequately support the room these people need, as the base covers over 125,000 acres and approximately 200 square miles of terrain.
