New Hall To Accommodate Show’s Rapidly Increasing Profile

GITEX Shopper 2005 is set to double in size as organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announced the addition of a new exhibition hall at the Airport Expo to accommodate the rapidly increasing profile of the show. The annual shopping extravaganza that is now in its 15th edition will take place from 24th to 30th September.
“GITEX Shopper has evolved over the years from a marketplace for computers and accessories to its current status as the single largest annual retail platform for technology, in the Middle East,” said DWTC International Project Manager, Pankaj Nadkarni. “The show now encompasses information technology, digital imaging, telephony, consumer electronics, office automation, gaming, entertainment, educational programs, training, stationery, computer furniture and a wide range of related sectors that present cutting edge technology and the latest designs the world has to offer,” he said.
Mr. Nadkarni noted that last year’s event reported on-site sales in excess of AED 56 million (US$15.25 million) during the week long exhibition. The show attracted around 108,000 consumers and the average per capita spend was AED 519 (US$141) per consumer.
In addition to local consumers from within the UAE, the show attracts visitors from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, India, Iraq and Pakistan.
“With the extensive technology convergence in the industry and the aggressive retailing techniques, GITEX Shopper 2005 will provide vendors, resellers and traders a powerful platform to promote and market their wares,” Mr. Nadkarni remarked.
Exhibitors at GITEX Shopper put forward some of the best deals and promotions on their products and services.
