June 24, 2005 (Press Release) --
By pleading no contest, Russ Castella’s charge will be wiped clean if he manages to remain crime free in the state of Virginia for at least 2 years. He received a 60 day suspended jail sentence, suspension of driver license for 6 months, order to pay a $1,500 fine, and a requirement to serve 25 hours of community service. If he fails to do so within 30 days or will be caught driving with a suspended license in the state of Virginia, he will be arrested again and sent to jail for 60 days.
The “Angel Eyes” producer, who attended the proceeding on June 23rd but said nothing, was rung up on a criminal offense of class 1 misdemeanor for reckless driving. Castella was arrested in March for traveling 105 mph in a 65 mph zone on I95. He spent 7 hours in Southwest County jail before posting a $2,800 bond. Police has also impounded his Mercedes S55 rental car.
This was not the first time Castella faced criminal charges in traffic related matter. In 1998, he was arrested for driving underage in a vehicle that has been reported stolen. All charges have been dropped on good behavior. Russ Castella was then arrested in 2000 on a DUI charge which has suspended his license for a year. A second DUI arrest came in 2001.
“I am satisfied with the outcome of this matter,” stated Russ Castella, “I have actually expected a bigger fine and a jail time of about a week. Now I am very relieved and will concentrate more on the music.”
Russ Castella is finishing up shooting the video “Forgotten” and which is scheduled to be rotated by the beginning of August. He has also scheduled to appear at Billboard Hip Hop Awards conference in August at Atlanta.
