June 24, 2005 -- A new immersion style-certification service for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) has opened this summer in Buenos Aires that offers TEFL certification and a job abroad.
For_Immediate_Release:

June 24, 2005 (Press Release) -- June 24, 2005 -- Called TEFLocal, the program provides valuable tools for those wishing to succeed as locals or establish a global network for their future by pursuing TEFL throughout South America and beyond. “TEFLocal was designed for those who have a love of teaching and travel, or just want a vacation and are not looking to make a commitment to a four-year degree in language,” said Ryan Thompson, program director. “The TEFLocal program can supplement any degree without the additional time commitment.” In addition to ITTAO accredited TEFL certification, TEFLocal is the first program in the America’s offering Cambridge University’s Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT), a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) certificate. Thompson said program trainers immerse students in the culture of Buenos Aires as well as instruct them how to teach English successfully in South America or other parts of the world. After comparing other TEFL programs, Thompson, a linguist and native of the United States, designed a more comprehensive and less expensive program with other local EFL/ESL professors to fill the needs of those wishing to learn about Argentina as well as obtain their certificate.

“TEFL offers the skills teachers will need anywhere, not just Argentina. I like Buenos Aires, because there is so much to do, living is so cheap; it's what Prague was 10 years ago. I have had fun making a difference in the local community and learning the skills that will set me apart from my peers back in The States, I can’t wait to return to Argentina next summer, that is if I ever leave.”

-Mary Sue Tanner, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Sophomore and Spanish Student.

For a flat fee of $1,195.00 in US dollars, TEFLocal is priced much more reasonably than other profit driven programs only offering TEFL certification. TEFLocal offers up to 20% of what is earns back into the local community to promote economic responsibility, local prosperity, and international goodwill.

Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the TEFLocal TEFL program offers job assistance and housing options in addition to:

· 3 and 4-week TEFL certificate programs with free materials, wi-fi, and airport pick up.
· A certified Cambridge University TESOL certificate.
· $100 discount off the $1195 tuition for every friend that enrolls in the course with you.
· On completion, membership into an international teacher’s union, The TEFL Trade Federation.
· Affiliated Spanish programs and tours that show you the city, its culture, and nightlife.
· Graduates receive preferred hiring status from over 130 local language schools.

For more information, call (312) 277-3400, or visit the company’s web site at www.TEFLocal.com. TEFLocal is the only locally owned and operated TEFL program in Buenos Aires, and is ran by 12 different employees. “We will only accept a certain number of students for each session, so we are encouraging those interested to contact us as soon as possible for the fall,” Thompson said.
