June 25, 2005 (Press Release) --
Aardvark Records Ltd has the pleasure of announcing that Chris Hale has been named as a semi-finalist in the prestigious Yamaha International Music Production Contest. The qualifying track was "Slow and Low", taken from Chris' new album "Day and Night".
Three songs were selected from over 1000 entries as semi-finalists for the respective contest genres. "Slow and Low" was selected in the in the Dance/Electronica category. The semi-finalists now go on to compete for the Grand Prize of US$10,000 worth of Yamaha products and equipment. The celebrity judging panel reflects some of the new movers and shakers in the industry today: Randy Jackson (American Idol, Producer), Don Davis (Composer, The Matrix), Justi Stanley (Producer, The Vines), DJ Rap and Fourplay. The top3 finalists will be announced later in the year.
"Slow and Low" is a darkly ambient, downtempo breaks track from the current album "Day and Night". The track's dark atmosphere is punchily lightened with smooth highlight vocals, jazz trumpet lines, spacey F/X and natural piano sounds. It's all held together by a tight rhythm section and Chris' trademark production values.
Aardvark Records has spent the past four months working ceaselessly to bring Chris to the attention of global dance music scene. Already a respected DJ/Producer/Remixer on the Japanese underground dance music scene – and with the House Music/Breaks cognoscenti – recognition by the likes of Yamaha and Broadjam only serves to enhance a rapidly growing international profile.
