June 27, 2005 (Press Release) --
Since 1996, the Durango Songwriter’s Expo has aspired to be what some industry insiders are calling "the premier songwriting event in America"— a perfect blend of music business seminars and workshops, song listening/critique sessions, live songwriter showcases, and a live hit-writer concert to close the event.
Year after year, some of the greatest songwriters of our age attend the DSE to teach, inspire, rub shoulders with (and some say learn from) our attendees, and of course, perform their magical songs. Here's just a sampling from past EXPOs:
Rickie Lee Jones, Rodney Crowell, J.D. Souther, Jimmy Webb, Jack Tempchin, Gary Baker, Walt Aldridge, Al Anderson, Jeffrey Steele, Kostas, Gary Nicholson, Shawn Mullins, Tony Furtado, David Baerwald, Meredith Brooks, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Glen Phillips, Kim Richey, Kimmie Rhodes, Marv Green, Mark Selby and Tia Sillers, Lisa Loeb, Colin Hay... and so many more!
"The Durango Songwriter's Expo is one of the few places on earth that you can actually find an A&R person in conversation with an unsigned artist or songwriter." —Michael Laskow, President, TAXI
"The Durango Songwriter's Expo is an event I can count on to inspire me. The songs are terrific, the showcases are strong and to the point, and the people are outstanding. I always leave with something great, and can't wait until the next Expo." —Marshall Altman, A&R Director, Columbia Records
"The Durango Songwriter's Expo is the most beneficial conference I've been to in terms of quality interactions and connections with high caliber songwriters and industry people who can actually do something for your future career." —Jonathan Kingham, singer/songwriter/recording artist, Overall Grand Prize Winner of the 2000 USA Songwriting Competition
"Just a line to say I'm looking forward to another convention this year. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself at the previous outings and met some incredibly talented and interesting artists. I love the fact that it's small, controllable. It allows me to have much more one on one with these artists. More intimate. Keep up the good work. I know how much of your heart goes into this." —Tony Ferguson, Interscope Records
The EXPO is limited to 200 attendees to preserve that low "expert to songwriter" ratio that sets the DSE apart from most other events. Registrations for the October EXPO October 6-8 in Durango, Colorado will be accepted on a first come - first served basis. For details, please visit our website.
