A new Web site allows people to find an assortment of research relating to the different technologies available for high performance computing.
For_Immediate_Release:

June 28, 2005 (Press Release) -- Spanish Fork, Utah – LinuxHPC.org and Cluster Resources, Inc. announced today, June 28, 2005, the official release of Cluster Builder — a new Web site highlighting a broad spectrum of high performance computing (HPC) technologies and information.

“We wanted to create a place where anyone can go, from novice to expert, and find detailed and organized information about key HPC technologies, best practices, comparisons and reviews,” said Michael Jackson, president of Cluster Resources, Inc. “Cluster Builder helps people find the best solutions for their system.”

Search engines produce thousands to millions of results that technical and business evaluators must filter through when researching cluster technologies, obscuring the best solutions or leaving them undiscovered. Poor research may increase real dollar costs, reduce productivity and cause organizations to fall short of their optimal price performance and ROI goals. Cluster Builder alleviates the research burden by acting as an organized repository of HPC first- and third-party content. This helps evaluators build out cluster, grid and utility-based computing environments.

Cluster Builder is organized into software categories covering both open source and commercial products including operating systems, workload managers, resource managers, compilers, parallel programming environments, etc. It also contains hardware categories such as processors, switches and interconnect standards.

Cluster Builder further helps evaluators save time and increases the variety of solutions to choose from by providing access to LinuxHPC.org's free cluster Request-For-Quote (RFQ) service. This service allows those purchasing a cluster to submit one form to all desired vendors, instead of submitting a form to each individual vendor. Purchasers can choose from virtually any vendor including IBM, HP, Aspen Systems, PSSC Labs and other leading HPC vendors.

“Our objective is to combine research, news, quoting services and other information to connect HPC technology users with the resources needed to make educated decisions,” said Ken Farmer, LinuxHPC's editor in chief.

Cluster Builder's content will continually increase as more research is gathered and submitted. Details on technologies such as external storage, enhanced grid technologies and industry specific applications will be added in subsequent releases.
