This event is the LAAPAC’s attempt to foster positive interactions between the youth of our communities and the Police who patrol them. Youth will be paired with Police Officers to form teams for Soccer, Frisbee Football, 3 on 3 Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, and so much more. The event begins at 10 am and will run until 5 pm. Free transportation provided from Woodbrook Middle School, Tillicum 7-11, Lakewood City Hall, Word of Life Church, & Steilacoom Blvd. McDonalds. Vans will run once every hour starting at 10 am and running until 3 pm. .
C.O.P.S. is sponsored by the LAAPAC, Lakewood Police Department, Human Sports Inc., Lakewood Weed & Seed Organization, Daniel “Chappie” James Lodge # 72, the Lakewood Neighborhood Associations, and a host of other businesses and community organizations. Free juice, snacks, and hot dogs for nourishment will be provided along with other healthy snacks provided by Human Sports Inc. and their promoters. Several Churches and civic groups along with the City of Lakewood have agreed to participate in this event as well.
We extend invitations to Youth between the ages of 12 to 18 to come out and support this event. Youth under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult as no child care services will be available. The summer is upon us and the members of the LAAPAC firmly believe that we have to begin building bridges now to avoid negative interaction in the future. Respect, Trust, and Positive Interaction is what we are promoting with this event.
If you want to participate, please call Mrs. JoEthel Smith at (253) 584-4673 or email Julius Brown at juice@alliancenw.com for more information.
