JetSpeed Records and Don Wood To Raffle Off Fender Statocaster Guitar For Charity

(PRWEB) July 27, 2005 -- On Saturday, July 30 JetSpeed Records and Don Wood will be raffling a Fender Squire Strat guitar with the proceeds benefiting The American Cancer Society at the Society's Relay for Life at Grant High School in Portland, Oregon. JetSpeed became involved in this cause through The Don Wood Band, whose release will be out on JetSpeed Records later this year. Everybody at JetSpeed Records is very excited about becoming involved in yet another very worthy cause.

The Don Wood Band will be performing at this event on Saturday from 4:45pm to 6:45pm. Don Wood is an accomplished musician whose influences include James Taylor, Spyro Gyra, Toto, Sister Hazel, and Vertical Horizons. Over his twenty year musical career, Don Wood has proven himself over and over again as a stellar song writer. His set at the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life will surely provide entertainment and inspiration for all of the participants and observers.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a fund raiser that has been going strong since 1986. The event was the idea of Dr. Gordy Klatt of Tacoma, Washington. He based the idea on his own 24-hour walk in 1985 that helped him to single handedly raise $27,000 to fight cancer. Although the event has changed over the years, it still boasts the spirit of trying to fight cancer while supporting survivors. Participants of the event join in teams. Throughout the night of the event into the next morning, each team has the goal of constantly having one of their members walking the track. Through collecting sponsors, the teams are raising money for the cause with each lap around the track.

The Relay for Life is a very exciting and very important event, and JetSpeed Records and The Don Wood Band are both very excited that they can do something to lend a hand in the fight against cancer!

This event is taking place from Saturday, July 30 at 4:00PM until Sunday, July 31 at 10:00 AM on the track at Grant High School (2245 NE 36th Avenue; Portland, OR 97211).
