Boca Raton consultant and trainer, Karen Fredricks, will write ACT! 2005 For Dummies, a $24.99 paperback scheduled for publication in October.
John Wiley Tech Publishing chose Karen Fredricks to write the book following the success of her two previous Dummies titles. Fredricks is also the editor of a nationally published newsletter.
ACT! is a contact management database. It provides calendar, contact and communications functions as well as sales tools and reporting capabilities. Fredricks said she won't have to change her style much to explain the Microsoft, QuickBooks and Palm-compatible software.
"The Dummies books have been so successful because of the foolproof formula developed by Wiley," said Fredricks. "This approach is so similar to my own instructional style, that writing this book is both a rewarding and fun project."
According to Fredricks, “Writing this book posed a variety of challenges. The content had to be highly focused and triple checked for items such as grammar, accuracy, explanation of acronyms, and ease of use by the reader. In addition, the presentation had to include enough humor to provide an enjoyable reading experience while providing instruction regarding the use of highly technical content.”
Fredricks has over 20 years of computer consulting and training experience in South Florida, during which time she has acquired in-depth expertise in the operational requirements of a broad spectrum of businesses. Her company, Tech Benders, provides a variety of services to businesses of all types and sizes, including needs analyses to determine hardware and software requirements, installation of selected software packages, troubleshooting, software customization, and training. Tech Benders shows businesses how to operate more efficiently, and therefore, more profitably.
Fredricks is also a QuickBooks Pro Certified Advisor, Microsoft Office User Specialist and author of copyrighted training materials for business users of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, Basic Windows and the Internet.
