As the SEO function takes on greater significance in the business spectrum, the emphasis of SEO challenges has changed from nonsense terms to real words with real meaning, and real rewards. A serious concern for all business operations functioning in a digital age online, the role of the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) professional has never been more evident.
Marking this transition is the announcement of the latest and largest SEO Competition, a non-fictitious content contest, which challenges SEO gurus to optimize the Internet’s latest game sensation: Backgammon. As online backgammons popularity increases the optimization challenge is a logical one, whilst also proving a real test of the skills of the entrants who are being set the task of optimizing words for which there is already an existing search log. 1,300,000 results to be precise for the most challenging top prize word, backgammon itself.
In total there are four categories of words to be optimized; backgammon, online backgammon, backgammon games, and backgammon rules, with a combined log of 3,400,000 results in comparison to the zero results of the ‘Nigritude Ultramarine’ before the infamous contest started. Organizers of the event have therefore created a much greater prize structure, with a tempting prize pool of $15,000 up for the winning.
The force behind the contest is online marketing company TC.ADS, co-provider of leading backgammon server Play65. As the host of the largest online backgammon arena, TC.ADS obviously has a keen interest in seeing the profile of backgammon expand, but as an online marketing company themselves also understand the need for, and practice the art of SEO. “The value of SEO to today’s business is pivotal, yet for some reason contests for this field have involved nonsense words with no logged results.
