August 2, 2005 (Press Release) --
Cambridge, MA - ICLUBcentral Inc. announced the appointment of Douglas Gerlach, the company's Vice President of Investing Products, to the position of President and member of the Board of Directors.
Gerlach steps into his new role after overseeing the June 2005 launch of one of the company's flagship software programs, Club Accounting 3. In his new position, Gerlach will oversee all aspects of the company's daily operations, supporting an established user base of individual investors and investment clubs with new and improved products.
"Since ICLUBcentral Inc. was founded in 2000, we have made steady, continual progress in our aim of building a market leader that serves the needs of investors and clubs," said Robert Brooker, ICLUBcentral's Chairman. "We now have leading technology and one of the largest customer bases of investors in the U.S. and U.K. With his creativity, ever-present sense of innovation and understanding of the needs of long-term oriented investors, I am confident that Doug Gerlach will lead ICLUBcentral towards greater success."
Gerlach's association with ICLUBcentral dates back several years. He founded ICLUBcentral.com in 1997; Actifunds acquired the site in 2001 and then renamed itself ICLUBcentral Inc. Gerlach continues to be Editor-in-Chief of the company's Investor Advisory Service (IAS) newsletter, a position he assumed in 2004.
"Individuals learn best by doing," said Gerlach. "When it comes to investing, joining an investment club, using software like Investor's Toolkit, or getting great advice from a trusted, independent resource like IAS can help you make your own decisions about a stock's potential. Whichever route you choose, ICLUBcentral has the tools you need to invest successfully. I'm committed to continuing the company's track record of serving investors."
A long-time investment education advocate and online investing pioneer, Gerlach has penned several books, including Investment Clubs for Dummies, The Armchair Millionaire and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Online Investing. He was a contributing editor for Mutual Funds Magazine, and wrote articles for Individual Investor and PC World. He has been featured in BusinessWeek, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, New York Times and Worth, and his web sites garnered accolades from Forbes, Barron's, Money, The Economist, US News & World Report and Fortune.
Long affiliated with BetterInvesting (formerly known as NAIC), the non-profit investor education organization, Gerlach co-founded the organization's Web site in 1995 and served as a Director of its Computer Group. Gerlach speaks regularly at investor conferences across the country and around the world, from Honolulu to Berlin.
