An agreement between Transnet Wireless and SuperPantry parent company Tri-Star Marketing Inc. will bring wireless Internet access to two Illinois travel centers.

Plantation, FL – August 3, 2005 – Life will be a little easier for Illinois travelers and patrons of two SuperPantry stores thanks to an agreement between Transnet Wireless, SuperPantry parent company Tri-Star Marketing Inc. and a private distributor that will bring wireless Internet access to the Auburn Travel Center in Divernon, IL, and the Morton Travel Center in Morton, IL. The planned installation of Transnet Wireless kiosks highlights the skyrocketing demand for wireless Internet capabilities in retail, travel and hospitality establishments.
The SuperPantry travel centers are just the latest additions to the rapidly growing list of Wi-Fi Hot Spots across the country currently served by Transnet Wireless, the national leader in the distribution of Wi-Fi Hot Spot Internet kiosks.
“Wireless access is now a necessity among consumers, especially in the retail, travel and hospitality markets,” said Brad Cartwright, president of Transnet Wireless. “The deal with SuperPantry will bring its stores to the forefront in terms of services offered to its customers, and will further our presence in the Midwest and the travel center market as a whole.”
Transnet Wireless is establishing a national network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots through an innovative private local distributorship program in which the Hot Spot equipment is placed in locations at no cost to the location owner. The hardware, maintenance and monthly Internet connection fees are all paid for by the local distributor, who profits from usage fees. A percentage of the revenues are also shared with the location.
Mike Gewirtz of Urbana, Ill.-based Tri-Star Marketing Inc.—whose SuperPantry stores have 56 locations throughout Illinois and Indiana—said he thinks the addition of the Wi-Fi Hot Spots will keep SuperPantry competitive with other travel centers and stores racing to keep up with consumers’ increasing demand for advanced services like wireless Internet access. “Customers have been requesting wireless Internet access; I think I’m joining the wave of the future,” Gewirtz acknowledged. “And it keeps with our company philosophy of providing outstanding services.” Gewirtz said one of the reasons he approved Transnet Wireless as the provider is the user-friendliness of its kiosks. “I tried them myself, and it made the decision easy.” Gewirtz also said he’d like to make all of the SuperPantry locations Wi-Fi Hot Spots.
