August 3, 2005 (Press Release) --
Detroit - On this day, August 2nd 2005, we of Macedonian heritage celebrate Ilinden (St Elijah's Day), one of our greatest holidays. Also on this day, one of the largest and fastest growing Macedonian youth-oriented websites marks it’s 1-year anniversary.
MakLink.com was founded on August 2, 2004 as at that time a growing need for the sharing of Macedonian culture among youth was becoming ever more apparent. Today, on it’s 1-year anniversary, MakLink brings you a massive update (Version 2) both graphically and content-wise. The website will move on from being just simply an events website to a complete hub for Macedonians across North America.
As MakLink continues to grow, it will depend now more than ever on the input of it’s users and visitors. It will adapt and change almost daily to suit the needs and interests of Macedonian youth. This year MakLink will also expand to begin hosting full-fledged events both online and in person. These will kick off with a first-of-its-kind candid interview with Alexander the Great, set to debut on August 3rd on the website. Beginning in September/October will be the first “Macedonian Idol” singing contest taking place live across a few cities in North America where there are growing Macedonian communities. Another online event will be an upcoming poetry contest, judged by established and well-known writers. Also included within the year will be parties, fashion shows, and more live events.
This will be a great year for MakLink as we will work much harder with our Macedonian communities to help unite ourselves and enjoy & spread our culture and heritage. Furthermore we are announcing the “MakLink Guarantee”, an ambitious focus that is our driving force for the year: by August 2nd 2006 (our 2-year anniversary) our goal is to have helped greatly enrich and motivate the lives of Macedonian youth throughout North America by connecting them to both our heritage and culture, and within our communities, to the point where each individual will be proud to say “I Am Macedonian”.
MakLink.com would like to thank the thousands of its regular and future visitors for their continued support into our second year.
God Bless America, God Bless Canada, and God Bless Macedonia!
